Consultants debate the way forward for Ukraine because the US warms as much as Russia and US-European relations shift.
United States President Donald Trump’s administration flipped the script on US-Europe relations in February. European officers have been berated for being antidemocratic and have been instructed their involvement was not wanted in ending the Ukraine conflict.
In the meantime, US and Russian officers began conferences to finish that conflict.
Anatol Lieven, director of the Eurasia Program on the Quincy Institute, argues that European fears of Russian growth are vastly exaggerated.
However Melinda Haring, senior fellow on the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Middle, tells host Steve Clemons that it’s harmful for the US to reverse course on Ukraine and normalise relations with Russia.
