Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket has blasted off from Florida on its first mission to house, an inaugural step into Earth’s orbit for Jeff Bezos’s house firm.

Thirty storeys tall, standing at 98 metres (321.5 ft), with a reusable first stage, New Glenn launched at about 2am (07:00 GMT) from Blue Origin’s launchpad on the Cape Canaveral Area Power Station in its second lift-off try this week.

The rocket’s first try to launch on Monday was scrubbed round as a result of ice had accrued on a propellant line.

On Thursday, the corporate cited no points earlier than the launch.

The mission – a decade-long multibillion-dollar venture – included a first-stage booster touchdown within the Atlantic Ocean, whereas the rocket’s second stage continues in direction of orbit.

Till now, Blue Origin had used its rockets just for suborbital house tourism.

“The factor we’re most nervous about is the booster touchdown,” Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who based Blue Origin in 2000, advised Reuters information company in a pre-launch interview.
