Russian President Vladimir Putin attended a Christmas mass in Moscow on Monday night.

He lit candles within the Church of Saint George the Victorious on Poklonnaya Hill, the location of a grandiose memorial advanced devoted to Russia’s victory in World Struggle II.

The president later traveled to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the place he met with Patriarch Kirill, the top of the Russian Orthodox Church.

In an announcement launched by the Kremlin, Putin congratulated Orthodox Christians in Russia and overseas. “Throughout the Christmas season, we really feel with all our hearts the significance of ancestral, familial traditions handed by way of generations,” Putin mentioned.
