Market regulator SEBI has relaxed guidelines for accounts of shoppers of brokerage homes who haven’t traded for 30 days. The Securities and Change Board of India (SEBI) in its earlier order had requested to settle such accounts inside three working days. SEBI has mentioned within the round issued on January 6 that brokerage homes can settle funds in such accounts on the upcoming settlement dates.

The round states that as per the extant guidelines, accounts of shoppers the place there was no transaction for the final 30 days might be settled by the Buying and selling Member™ inside three days. Nonetheless, after the petition by Brokers Trade Requirements Discussion board (BISF), the market regulator had determined to alter these circumstances.

“The buying and selling member is required to determine such shoppers each day as per the situation of the account inside three working days,” the round mentioned. Subsequently, modifications have been made in clause 5.4 of the round issued on 16 June 2021 and clause 47.4 of the round issued on 9 August 2024.
